The alleged scam of Rs 3,000 crore was reported in April 2013. It is alleged that companies of Sharada Group wrongly raised the money of the investors and did not return them. Former Sharda Group employee had filed a case against Sharda’s promoter Sudipta for not paying salary. In this case Sudipto was arrested later. Sudipto and many of his associates are now in jail. Due to involvement in the scam, senior Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh has also been arrested.
