Basai Darapur Murder Case: Police arrested accused mother and sister

On Wednesday, the Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested two women in connection with the murder of a 51-year-old businessman in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar for objecting to indecent remarks directed at his daughter. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Monika Bhardwaj said the wife and daughter of the accused were arrested for their involvement in the crime.

On Wednesday, the Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested two women in connection with the murder of a 51-year-old businessman in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar for objecting to indecent remarks directed at his daughter. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Monika Bhardwaj said the wife and daughter of the accused were arrested for their involvement in the crime. The accused and his son were arrested earlier. The 19-year-old victim’s son was also seriously injured by the miscreants by knocking him. He is currently admitted to ICU, but his condition is out of danger. Doctors said that they will be kept under surveillance for the next 24 hours.

Where is Basai Darapur?

Basai Darapur, a village located near Moti Nagar metro station(Delhi), has a population of around 35,000 and majority of the landowners are Tyagi’s and Rajput’s. The locality has 30 houses belonging to the minority community. The village has no history of communal violence.

There is another disclosure in this case now. It is reported that two minor sons of the main accused were arrested, one of them is minor. It is being said that he was only 2 months old. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Monika Bhardwaj said that two members of the family were arrested on Wednesday. One of them is the wife of the main accused (45) and the other is his daughter (30).

A senior police officer said that women were arrested in the joint intention of committing crimes under Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code. The victim’s family alleged that both women helped the accused in the attack and one of them provided a knife(used in the crime). The official said that it is being investigated whether women helped the accused escape from the crime scene or not.

Another update is that Businessman’s family members met Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday. The victim’s daughter, wife, and father were accompanied by Union Minister Vijay Goel and rebel AAP legislator Kapil Mishra, along with senior leader Janata Dal (United) KC Tyagi. Meanwhile, in a letter submitted to the Home Minister, Tyagi requested him that the dependents of 52-year-old businessman should be given a job, compensation of Rs 50 lakh and security.

The family on Wednesday evening carried out a candle march at India Gate to demand justice.

It had all begun while the businessman and his 22-year-old daughter were returning home on a motorcycle after visiting a hospital. “Three or four drunk youngsters, who often harass women, were blocking the entrance to our lane. When my uncle asked them to move, they made lewd comments about my cousin. When my uncle protested, one of them began touching her hair,” the nephew of the businessman said.

The 52-years-old businessman decided to drop his daughter home and return to confront the harassers. “My cousin begged her father not to go, but he thought he could convince the father of the youngsters to keep them in check,” the nephew said.

The businessman’s objection/complaint snowballed into a confrontation and the three siblings and their father allegedly stabbed him multiple times. When the businessman’s son intervened, he was also stabbed.
