A massive fire broke out at Big Bazaar in Mumbai’s Matunga today at 10.12 am, according to initial reports. Five vehicles from the fire brigade reached the spot to douse the blaze. The reason behind the fire is still not clear. The fire brigade has classified the fire was at Level II. Locals said that rescue operations were underway. On Thursday, six workers were injured in a fire at a club at Aarey Colony in suburban Goregaon. A fire broke out at Emerald Club at Royal Palm Estate at 10.12 am. A team of fire brigade personnel was sent immediately, but before they could douse the flames by 10.50 am, six people — workers engaged in renovation job — were injured, one of them suffering 80 per cent burn injuries.

Big Bazaar Fire at Mumbai in Matunga
A fire broke out in a ground-plus-one building housing a Big Bazaar outlet in the city’s Matunga West area on Monday afternoon, an official said. At least five fire engines, a Quick Response Vehicle, one ambulance, and more than 15 Fire Brigade personnel have reached the site for dousing operations, he said. All the people who were inside the store at the time of the fire managed to rush out to safety and no casualty has been reported as yet, he added.
