Immediately before the announcement of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Odisha chief minister and Biju Janata Dal president Naveen Patnaik have made a big announcement. He has said that his party BJD will give 33% of the tickets to the female candidates of Biju Janta Dal (BJD) in Lok Sabha elections 2019. Addressing an election rally in Kendrapara, Odisha, Patnaik said that in case of women empowerment, Odisha will show the path to entire India. Patnaik also said that he was very happy to come to Kendrapara.
Just before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Patnaik’s women card of 33% could present a challenge in front of other parties.
Naveen Patnaik’s BJD will give 33% Reservation for Women in LS 2019
Significantly, Patnaik has kept his point in the parliament and the reservation of women in the Assembly. Given the forthcoming elections, Patnaik’s move to the opposition parties is being considered as a tough challenge. The movement of women empowerment is being raised by all national parties. But no concrete steps have been taken in the parliament to give 33 percent reservation to women. Naveen Patnaik’s BJD could be the first Political Party to do this in 2019 LS Polls
It is worth mentioning that Naveen Patnaik’s father, Biju Patnaik, gave 33 percent reservation to women in local bodies Election in Odisha. Naveen Patnaik claims that he has provided this 33 percent reservation in 2011 to 50 percent.
