Bollywood is in dire need of good content films, and Rakesh Omprakash Mehra’s upcoming film just promises the audience the same. Mere Pyaare Prime Minister is an upcoming bollywood movie that deals with the topics like open defecation, sanitation, safety and sexual violence against women and even caste dynamics. The film also focuses on some other taboos of the Indian society which looks exhilarating.
The trailer of Mere Pyaare Prime Minister has been released today and the movie is set out to come to the cinemas on March 15th. The trailer begins with a shot of a couple of slum kids approaching the official residence of the Prime Minister of the country. One of them, Kanhaiya, who is also the main cast of the movie, asks a mounted guard where the Prime Country lives. The scene ends and takes the audience to the past. Kanhaiya lives in a slum in Mumbai with his mothe Sargam and does odd jobs to assist his mother in generating income.
Sargam is one day raped by an unknown man and that incident provokes Kanhaiya to write a letter to the Prime Minister of India. With his friends, Kanhaiya comes to New Delhi to give the letter in person. Atul Kulkarni, who is probably an official in the PMO, tells Kanhaiya that he can only receive the letter. The film also somewhere questions the system which the citizens are made to follow.
The film’s logoline states “ 8 year old Kanhaiya living in a slum in Mumbai, writes a letter to the Prime Minister after an ugly accident happens with his mother. Will the Prime Minister meet him?”. Rakesh Omprakash Mehra is known for films like Rang De Basanti and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Mere Pyaare Prime Minister seems like a low-budget but a good content film.
