Indian cricket team and captain Virat Kohli are on top of the list of batsmen and team in the latest Test rankings issued by the ICC on Tuesday. Kohli remained in the first place with 922 points. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, with 913 points, is second and Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara is at number three with 881 points.
England pace spearhead James Anderson has been ruled out of the four-day Test against Ireland starting on Wednesday due to a right calf injury. Had the 36-year-old played the one-off Test, the second-placed bowler would have got a chance to bridge the 16-point gap to Australia’s Pat Cummins.
Anderson was overtaken by South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada (ranked third) in November last year and subsequently by current No 1 Cummins.
India is first in Test Team Rankings, New Zealand second, South Africa third, England fourth and Australia are at number four and five respectively.
Ravindra Jadeja 6th and Ravichandran Ashwin of India are ranked 10th in the list of bowlers of ICC Test teams.
Jadeja is at number three in the list of all-rounders. Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is the first and West Indies’ Jason Holder is second.
